RCMP RELEASE:
On August 25, 2024 at approximately 7:10 am in the morning Smoky Lake RCMP responded to a robbery in progress at a rural location in the County of Smoky Lake. Suspects were attempting to steal a vehicle from the property when they were interrupted by the home owner, at which point a suspect pointed a firearm and shot damaging the homeowner’s vehicle. A short time later St. Paul RCMP Detachment located the suspect vehicle and successfully arrested two suspects.
RCMP have charged Fabian Gladue (39), Lake and Jordan Steinhauer (40), both residents of Saddle Lake Cree Nation, with Robbery with a Firearm.
Both men were taken before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody Gladue’s next court date is set for Aug. 27, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Boyle and Steinhauer’s court date is set for Sept. 12, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Saskatchewan.
Smoky Lake RCMP continue their investigation and has identified the other 2 suspects charges and arrests are pending involved in this case.
“Fast coordination between responding nearby detachments was essential in quickly locating and arresting these suspects,” says Sergeant Anita Doktor of the Smoky Lake RCMP, “The Alberta RCMP would like to remind the public of the dangers that suspects can pose when involved in a crime. If you see a crime in progress please call RCMP immediately. Protect you and your family by securing your residence and refrain from engaging with the suspects.”
